Sampan Security Announces FireTower 2.0, a New Cyber Security Tool for Windows 7, Vista and XP

FireTower is a software security tool capable of real-time detection of Zero-Day attacks and other potentially malicious incoming software. FireTower is offered free of charge for individual personal use.

NASHUA, NH, November 16, 2011 /Security PR News/ -- Sampan Security, Inc., a cutting-edge developer of system health and security software technology, today announced the availability of FireTower 2.0 for Windows 7, Vista, and XP. FireTower is offered free of charge for individual and personal use.

FireTower is a security discovery software tool for system health and security. FireTower delivers two major features: Real-time capturing and reporting of incoming software attempting to install a persistent mechanism and automated incident data collection. FireTower not only serves as a security tool for alerting users of potentially malicious intruding software, but also acts as a post-mortem investigative tool for system health and cyber security. In addition to reporting new incidents, FireTower also provides the name of the software at the root of the incident along with any associated metadata.

Traditional cyber security applications such as anti-virus and anti-malware software utilize some form of signature-based detection. This method is an effective way of defending a system against known and documented viruses, spyware and malware, but is essentially helpless against unknown attacks. Unlike these traditional tools, FireTower does not rely on signature-based detection. FireTower uses a unique software installation and execution behavior profiling technology to capture and signal both known exploits and zero-day attacks in real-time.

FireTower also simplifies the process of asking for troubleshooting help through a feature called Snapshot Viewer. Snapshot Viewer allows users to upload a detailed snapshot of their PC's AutoRun settings to a secure database where it can be opened and viewed through a web browser by knowledgeable peers and support professionals. The comprehensive report included in these snapshots may contain information indicating the presence and location of troublesome malware on a PC.

FireTower is provided free of charge for personal use. For corporate and commercial use, please contact Sampan Security, Inc. Sales at myLicense@myfiretower.com to purchase a site license, for software bundling or for redistribution. Customization is available.
